Horsepower from your Engine

Horsepower from your Engine

Getting the most air into your car as you can is important when designing your engine for performance and thus, winning races. The air that enters your engine is combined with fuel then ignited in order to create horsepower. The throttle body is the element of your engine which actually controls how much air is permitted to come in.
If you want to find the throttle body on your car, look for rectangular or circular opening that is one the side or on top of the intake. The openings will be covered by one or more flat butterfly valves. These are opened each time you push down on the gas pedal with your foot and the air is let in and mixed with fuel sent into the engine.
A larger throttle body will certainly pull in more aid and create more horsepower but the engine has to be able capable of keeping up the the fuel demand. A performance throttle body will allow precise control over the amount of air entering and this give a more accurate throttle. Bolt-on components like these work better when matched with the proper valves.
